This is the Great Legend of the Indian Brave called Falling Rock and the Indian Princes who was given the name Curve. There are a great number of variations to this story, but this is the legend as told.

Many moons ago, before time was created by the Great Spirit, while White Man was still a Hershey Bar in Evolution's back pocket, there where two great tribes of Indians. In one tribe was the young brave Falling Rock and his childhood friend, the beautiful Princes Curve. The other tribe had few women due to diseases and famine caused by many years of global warming created by buffalo flatulence . The second tribe was bent on kidnapping all the women from Falling Rock's tribe. They stalked Falling Rock's tribe everywhere they went, waiting for the chance to attack.

Falling Rock and Curve where very much in love with one another. When Falling Rock completed his initiation into manhood at the age of 190 moons they were to be married. The much anticipated initiation came about and the marriage ceremony was scheduled for that very same evening. Many buffalo were killed for the feast and the smell of fresh cooked meat filled the air. Teepees where decorated with many hides of all kinds and of many colors. Smoke signals were sent inviting other groups of the tribe to attend for the great wedding and feast which would follow. Much apricot wine was made for the wondrous occasion. Weddings where the most celebrated occasion of any within Falling Rock's tribe.

Unknown to Falling Rock and his tribe, a large party of warriors from the rival tribe had staked out the river where Princes Curve would be given her wedding bath by the tribe maidens. While the bath was taking place the rival tribe attacked, kidnapping all the maidens including Curve. They also stole several large water skins full of apricot wine which where cooling in the river.

Falling Rock quickly heard of the kidnapping. He was very distraught that his beloved Curve had been taken. He ran out unto the prairie, not waiting for the rescue group. He ran and he ran looking everywhere for the rival Indians who took Curve and the other maidens. He stopped on every mountain top calling for Curve to no avail. He did not return to the safety of his tribe or to the rescue party.

Meanwhile that night, the kidnapers had drank all the apricot wine which they had stolen. Curve and the other maidens saw this and managed to slip their bonds. They escaped while the rivals where passed out drunk. A short while later they were found by the rescue party and returned to the tribe unharmed.

Several days passed and Falling Rock did not return. He was still looking for his beloved Princes Curve, not knowing she had returned to the tribe safely. Princes Curve became so upset and distraught she went out on her own looking for Falling Rock.

Days went by, then moons went by, then seasons went by and neither Curve nor Falling Rock ever returned to the tribe. Some say you can still hear them calling for each other across the deserts and mountains. Thus came the legend of Falling Rock and Curve.

If you see this sign, use caution because Falling Rock has been heard calling in the area. If you see a sign saying Curve, use caution because she has been heard calling in the area. You will always see Curve and Falling Rock signs close together because Falling Rock and Curve are always within a mile or so of each other. As chance has it, they are always close but they just cannot get together.

Over the years, White Man has changed Falling Rock to the pastence, Fallen Rock. This legend is protected by the NDFTPOAGY.
