Geocache Description:

A day-long event with sessions on varying topics of interest to geocachers.

Join the CSRA Geocachers and the McDuffie County Tourism Board as we spend a fun-filled day in downtown Thomson.

The event will kick off shortly after the CITO ends and will run all day. Come for the sessions you are interested in and head out into the county to cache during the others.

Below is a tentative list of sessions, along with speakers/hosts of the session. We don't have everything firmed up yet, so keep watching the page for updates.

As with all of the associated events, please log you intent to attend as soon as you know that you will. We are working on a coin and t-shirts, so drop an email to us if you are interested in coins and shirts. We will see what type of response we get in order to determine how many to have minted and printed.

If you plan on camping, there are two campgrounds in McDuffie County:

Big Hart
  1. 24 hr water/electric hookups (30-amp)
  2. 7 non-site hookups
  3. Group tent area (includes large picnic shelter with 30-amp service)
  4. $75 per night for the group area (not suitable for RVs)
  5. Family sites range from $14-18, two tents or one RV/one tent
  6. Leashed or penned pets allowed
  7. Gates open at 7am and close at 10:30pm

Raysville
  1. All-electric campground.
  2. All 55 sites are equipped with electric and water hookups.
  3. Site fees range from $18-20 per night and the same rules apply as Big Hart.

Some members of the CSRA group are recommending Raysville because it is a little closer to Thomson. It will fill up fast for that weekend though, so better make those reservations soon.

Also, two hotels are offering group rates for the event:
Holiday Inn is offering a rate of $72.99, plus tax.

White Columns (Best Western) is offering King & Double rooms for $71.19 and Queens for $62.29, plus tax. All of Best Westerns room come with a free hot breakfast.

12:00-1:30 Lunch---You are free to bring a picnic or head out to one of the local restaurants. There are three restaurants within walking distance of the Depot. The is an excellent home-style cooking restaurant located just across the parking lot. Will add more information on prices soon.
