Geocache Description:

Come visit the mysterious Crystal Canyon. Some say that an aura of sorrow surrounds this place that befuddles modern devices! I can't say for sure. Should be an easy micro. Well, if not for all the paranormal activity which surrounds it that is.

The hustle and bustle of this busy area during the workday masks a virtual hotbed of paranormal activity. Likened to the Bermuda Triangle Birmingham's Crystal Canyon would simply be a big deep dark hole if the sunlight did not reflect from the canyon walls high above.

If you visit here don't be surprized to see an apparition described by some only as "The Persimmon Lady". A well dressed lady carrying a wooven basket of the fruit.

The story goes she was a beautiful dark haired native of a far off southsea island who was brought to Birmingham by a merchant sea Captain who had grown tired of waundering the seas in the late 1800's. She longed for her tropical island paradise home and the lure of the many far and exotic lands that they had visited sailing the world together. The island girl was especally fond of the sweet and crispy Persimmon fruits they discovered in Japan. The Captain, being a man of means, had four of the Japanese Persimmon trees shipped to Birmingham all the way from the Orient & placed them in their back garden.

In only a few years the trees bore big juicy fruits. But alas, it was at this time the Captain took ill of tuberculosis and died. Though a man of means the Captain also had many debts, so that all that was left of the estate after his death was the house & the four persimmon trees. The poor woman was left alone in this foriegn land.

The story continues that her only means of subsistance was the sale of the large Persimmon fruits from her garden on the streets of town near the present day Crystal Canyon. Stricken with loneliness and grief some say she simply hid herself away in the garden never to come out again. Others say she died in the Birmingham streets of meloncholy. All agree that her spirit still walks the streets even today with her persimmon basket in hand. Often it is said her shadow appears during the day moving in and out amongst the crowd of downtown workers In any case, this is this sad tail that will give all your GPSrs out there a fit.

The cache is a keyholder sized container. Normally an easy find. .... But this place isn't normal. Is it?

FTF drfred. Congrads!
