This is one of a trio of caches along the Whinash Ridge. There is a faint/decent track between all the summits but it is very boggy in places.
From the top you have a good view of the Howgills and the Pennines beyond.
You can feel very isolated up here not seeing another soul around but if you look down to Tebay you see the motorway with traffic speeding on its way.
Look closely at Tebay and see if the terrace of coloured houses reminds you of anywhere – if you don’t watch children’s TV you have probably never heard of Balamory which is set on an island not unlike Tobermory in Scotland, Tebay is the Balamory of England.
There are a lot of lichens on the rocks which are worth a closer look. Whilst searching for the cache please make sure rocks are replaced as found to allow the lichens to continue to grow.
