How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

"Upstairs, downstairs" is intended to give cachers the opportunity to see Bascote Locks, two of which are in an unusual configuration, known as a staircase. For a really impressive lock flight, visit Foxton Locks which consist of two staircases of 5 locks each. There's a visitor centre and parking at SP69188 89756

Finding this cache involves walking the towpath beside the locks. You will not need to cross the locks.

***Canals and water are not inherently dangerous if common sense is used, but children should be carefully supervised***

The difficulty rating of 3 is because the cache container is unconventional.

It is possible to reach the locks via a UCR (Unclassified County Road), more accurately described as a track or by walking the towpath from one of a number of places where roads cross the canal.
