Geocache Description:

Another opportunity to enjoy Hamilton's river pathways. A fairly easy cache.

The Cobham Bridge is close to the Hamilton Gardens and a number of river beaches that are busy during summer.

It is part of the route of State Highway 1 through Hamilton. The bridge serves as a landmark in several 'round the bridges' events in the city. The circuit from Cobham Bridge to the city, across the Victoria Bridge and back to Cobham is a pleasant 5 km walk.

A problem arose with the building of the Cobham Bridge; SH1 was to run through some reserve land. The Mayor contacted the Minister of Works, who came up from Wellington and ordered the road be re-sited to allow the development of the Hamilton Gardens.

There is no need to go off the path. This is a traditional cache, but we found GPS coverage a bit difficult at this spot, so we have provided two clues. You need to do a little work for the second one and answer these questions..
1. What year was the Cobham Bridge opened?
2. What does the sum of the digits of that year - 8 equal?

Parking is available in nearby streets, or at the gardens.

One litre camo jar with log, pencil, and swaps. Please replace well out of sight, this is a busy pathway.
