The cache is a magnetic microcache.
The Fife and Kinross Railway ran from Ladybank to Kinross, The first section from Ladybank to Strathmiglo was opened on the 6th June 1857the section between Strathmiglo and Milnathort was opened on the 9th September1858. The line was and a joint Station was opened on the 20th August 1858. On the 6th June 1950 the line from Lady bank to Mawcarse Junction was closed to Passengers and on the 29th January 1957 the Bridge on Station Road Auchtermuchty collapsed, the line from Ladybank to Auchtermuchty was closed to freight, on the 13th June 1964 Mawcarse station was closed to passengers on the 5th October1964 Auchtermuchty to Mawcarse was closed to freight..
It was a easy to build as there was no need for any major constructional work, and it was estimated that the 14 miles would cost about £55,000.
