Geocache Description:

An easy find not far from the track.

Due to my advancing age, I (and my doctor) am concerned about the possibility of my experiencing a medical situation while on the road to Maintain one or more of my 120 GC Geocaches and 50 GCA Geocaches.

If you live near this Geocache, or regularly travel near it, you might be interested in Adopting this Geocache (or more of mine). Please let me (WanderingAus) know by Message at
Geocaching Message Center
if you are interested, including the cache code or codes
(e.g GC1912Q for this cache).

Due to the temporary nature of pens and pencils in my geocaches
BRING YOUR OWN WRITING IMPLEMENT!!!

This cache continues my series along the Canning River towards Riverwood.

It is important to note that you cannot get from WanAus 43 - Riverside Parklands #14 to WanAus 44 - Riverside Parklands #15 (or vice-versa) without first returning to and crossing "The Bridge".

Each cache can be done as a standalone, but some good views of the river can be had by doing a series of them.

This is a detour to another interesting billabong area downstream from the Kent Street Weir. This patch of the river looks really inviting, and the cache is placed on the side away from the river.

The track leading to this one has a few heavy sand sections, and I placed the cache close to the spot where I finally bogged the bike. This one is probably not good for strollers unless you are really keen.

My thanks to R0gue, who reported "I came in from Adenia Rd as I found it easier to park there. ... Yes, the path does continue on, at least up to here, where there was also a nice bridge."

The parking R0gue mentioned is at S32°02.077' E115°54.856', there is space for 3 vehicles, from there cross the bridge and go sharp left. I checked the track myself because I wanted to drop off a trackable before placing the next three caches in the Riverside Parklands series. There was a lot more loose sand going that way, I ended up pushing the bike as much as I rode it, and for the last 200 metres I left the bike behind and walked. An examination of the map above reveals a lot less sand AND distance between "1C" and the cache than there is between "1B" and the cache travelling via "1A".

Some cachers might prefer to do this cache by kayak or canoe. There is an excellent landing point at
S32°01.926' E115°54.698', 200 metres from the cache (near where I left the bike).

It is unlikely you will reach the cache unless you follow the track either from the "Track" waypoint or from the bridge near the "Parking" waypoint.

The cache is a drab camo'd 65mm diameter 165mm high plastic screw top container, with log book, finders cards, pen, two pencils, pencil sharpener, and a selection of swaps.

When trading items please consider trading up or trading even and leaving items that you would want to find, and please don't take the pen, pencil or sharpener. If you can't trade up or trade even I don't mind seeing TNLNSL in the log.

Trackables (geocoins and travel bugs) are not tradeable items. Please feel free to take them without making a trade, but please leave a note in the logbook and your online log, and do log them online.
