A level, circular walk of 1.5 miles that can be muddy in places – the worst is at the start. Parking is available close to the start of the footpath at N51°24.195', W3°24.760'. From there head east to the cache keeping to the high ground on the edge of the wood. Unfortunately some of the stiles are missing the foot board but can be crossed.
A castle in name only, East Orchard was probably a fortified manor house and has been in ruins since the eighteenth century. It would have been a substantial building in its prime, with manor house, chapel, barn and dovecot. An internet search will yield more information.
The cache is a pot - slightly larger than a film pot.
To continue on the circular walk head south through the ruins to the stile. The footpath (as shown on the OS map) after the stile is overgrown, so walk along the edge of field and around to the gate. Once through the gate you are back on the footpath. Go through the adjacent gate and across the field to the gate on to the track. Then north up the track to another gate, through gate, along fence a little way then across field to stile and then back to the road.
You may encounter livestock in the fields. When the cache was put out there were a couple of cows in the first field and a few sheep in the other fields.
