This series of caches are placed along the Scenic 7 Byway on public land in areas where you can take a safe break from driving.
This cache (small pill fob) is located in the South Fourche LaFave Recreation Area on the south side of the river on State Highway 7. There is camping allowed nearby so be aware of the muggle factor.
The South Fourche LaFave River runs into the Fourche LaFave which dumps into the Arkansas River above Little Rock (actually SE of Bigelow) at about Mile 146. The river here is generally slow moving but clear.
Scenic Highway 7 intersects the river here. The Ouachita Forest portion of the highway is very scenic but has an abundance of hills and curves. The nearby bridge and is of concrete and steel construction and warrants investigation if you are so inclined. The info kiosk in the middle of the park near the restrooms has a lot of historical information. There is also a Forest Service Info Center south of this location, just north of Jessieville. It is a great place to take a break and learn about the Ouachita National Forest and the Ouachita National Trail.
This will be a challenge even utilizing the hint. This is a good place to stretch your legs and do whatever else you desire on your travels. The cache is located in a protected and maintained area safely away from the water unless the river is at floodstage. During the warm months you will encounter flying and crawling insects here. You may encounter almost any native species of animal here at any time on the near or far bank. Please take the time to look around and mention any interaction in the logs.
