Geocache Description:

An enjoyable walk in the Harms Woods Forest Preserve.

Harms Woods has a selection of walking, biking, and equestrian trails in the vicinity of Chicago River's North Branch. Near the river is a swampy forest with unique wildlife (for the more adventurous there are a few hobo campsites in the woods east of Harms Road-I doubt trinkets would appeal to them though). The canopy can get a bit thick so bring a compass. There is also the usual warm weather mosquitoes and ticks to contend with, so plan accordingly. One can approach the cache from most cardinal directions except from the west where there is a private golf course. For those finding themselves on the wrong side of the river, north of the cache is a "bridge" at N 42°03.716 W 87° 46.420 (as of October 1, 2004 this "bridge" no longer exists - bring your waders!).

The cache is also a short distance from the Cook County North Branch Bicycle Trail. Other caches along this twenty mile trail are Monster From The Skokie Lagoon and North Branch Cache. For a map of this trail, click this link: North Branch Trail Map.

The cache is a .50 cal ammo can.

I hope you enjoy my cache.
Steve

If you park in the Forest Preserve's lots be sure to leave by sunset. Otherwise you may be ticketed.
