This is a 3 stage multi cache. At the first and second stages you will have to project distance and bearing to the next location. You will be given a distance in tenths of a mile and a bearing to the next stage. You do not need to open the container at the first and second stages. The three locations are all on the yellow loop which is about 2.6 miles. Bring water and bug spray in the summer. Parts of the trail will be under water during the rainy season. The west side of the loop may be wet and muddy at any time of the year. Please stay on the trail and do not bushwhack between stages. The stages are all close to the trail. The final cache is in a lock 'n lock container. This cache has been placed with permission by the FDEP.
This cache is located in the Estero Bay State Buffer Preserve. The Aquatic Preserve was established in 1966 and consists primarily of the Estero River and its tributaries. As you walk the trails you will see scrubby flatwoods, pine flatwoods, salt marshes and salt flats bordering the mangroves. All plants and animals are protected. Gopher tortoises, rabbits, armadillos, fiddler crabs and eagles were sighted while placing this cache. Feral hogs, raccoons, and possums as well as many birds may be viewed along the trail.
