Innan den stora branden 1806 bestod hasselbacken av bostäder för den fattigare befolkningen i uddevalla.
Nedanför kyrkan finns det en park som grundades 1905 och fick sitt namn av köpmannen Bror Jonas Hasselgren som ägde marken. Parken är flitigt besökt av Uddevallabor som går dit för att mata fåglar.

Before the big fire in 1806, Hasselbacken was full of small houses where the poor part of the citizens lived.
Below the church there is a park that was founded in 1905 and had it´s name from the Merchant Bror Jonas Hasselgren that owned the land. The park is frequently visited by the citizens that comes here to feed birds.
