The children certainly are leading in this original series
episode. With the help of an alien "ghost" they take over the
Enterprise, trying to go to a highly populated colony. The ghost
alien had been instrumental in the death of the kids' parents.
Captain Kirk and his crew figure this out, then help the kids to
realize what is going on with this alien.
This cache is located along the walking trail that some of my
students designed several years ago. My oldest daughter, Scrudgirl,
was one of those students that participated in the design process.
She has literally been my "Number One" (a Picard term, no offense
to Captain Kirk) caching partner, as she was my partner on our very
first cache find. She now has her drivers licence, and is getting
herself around to wherever she needs to be. It's awesome to be able
to watch her grow up, to see my little girl become the young woman
that she's become.
The
geocache container location is relatively easy to get to,
especially if you park on Cemetery Hill Rd. When you get to the
location and start your hunt, please take note of how the cache is
hidden, and PLEASE replace it EXACTLY as you found it. If you have
any problems with the cache, please let me know.
The container was given to me over a year ago, and I am just now
getting it hidden. I must give credit to a fellow cacher and a good
friend of mine, as he is the person that did the creative camo work
on this container. I've already given several clues, enough that if
I give you his name you will know the nature of the camo. That is,
of course, if you haven't figured it out already.
At
the end of the episode Captain Kirk helps the children to realize
what's been going on. They grow up just a little bit, and they turn
from the ghost alien, who then dissappears. Kirk's comment is,
"Even the children learn." My Number One certainly has had a life
of learning. Now that she's in high school, she's learning more
about education and life. This cache is for her, and for all kids,
young and old, as we strive to continue to learn and grow each day.
"Set course for Starbase Four, Mr. Sulu." Set your course, and
engage.
