ADDITIONAL EVENTS
CITO
Cadell participates in KESAB Tidy Town, which they won 2 years in a
row, and we will contribute to this through cache in trash out
(CITO). There will be CITO points awarded for the return of a bag
of rubbish per team collected over the weekend. Cadell also has
collection points for drink bottles and cans that are recycled by
the local CFS and so we ask that you support this by placing your
bottles and cans in these containers. We will identify these
collection points at the event.
THE GEOCACHERS DINNER
A dinner event to be held at the local bowling club. This is a
licenced venue til 8pm . They are putting on a 3 course meal for
$12. The menu is -
Pumpkin Soup or Chicken Vegetable
Roast Turkey Breast or Roast Beef
Apple Crumble/cream/ice cream or Fruit salad/cream/icecream
Kids meals Chicken nuggets/chips $5.00 or $6.00 for the set
menu.
Payment for attending the dinner will be collected along with entry
fee at registration time. Details of the event will also be
e-mailed to those who have indicated they will be attending this
event.
Cache Placement
There will be a total of 60 caches hidden on the Saturday by those
participating in the event. The number of caches to be hidden by
each team will depend on the number of participating teams.
The 60 temporary caches supplied to the teams will be hidden on the
Saturday and retrieved after the hunt on the Sunday.
Teams may choose to replace one of the temporary caches with their
own traditional cache that will remain after the event. The
traditional cache will need to be at a minimum about 10 cm in
length. Contents of the temporary cache will be placed in the
traditional cache and retrieved along with the other temporary
caches at the end of the hunt.
Traditional caches will still need to be listed and approval
granted as per GC guidelines after the event.
The temporary caches can be camouflaged an example being the
Posspet boys hid theirs in a fake sprinkler control housing. The
camouflaging will need to be able to hide something the size of a
small Milo tin or a rectangular take away food container. The bonus
points for best camo will be awarded to the team receiving the most
votes from the other teams.
There is also a bonus award for the most innovative hide judged the
same way. As an example SA Parrothead hid a large parrot in a
forest at Mt Gambier and built a nest in front of it and placed the
cache in the nest.
The idea of camouflage and innovation is to add fun to the day, not
to create a caching challenge that is too difficult for other
participants to find. So no micros or specialised equipment to
retrieve a cache ie boat, and the star rating should be under a 3.

Warning
We have received this notification from Silver Snitch and have
reprinted some of the e-mail for your information and safety on the
day.
When we were kids there were, and I think still are quite a lot of
sumps around the properties / roads. They are for seepage
water.
However these things, I think, would look like a pretty enticing
spot to hang a cache down with string wire etc. THEY ARE ALSO DEEP.
(when I last looked down one, quite a while I'll admit, there was
no grate or if there was it was an awful long way down to it.)
They are usually above ground, round, large maybe a meter across,
maybe a bit less.. and usually painted white of grey. They are made
from cement.
Usually find them dotted along at the bottom of the various fruit
blocks (properties).
The lids are heavy but I can remember moving one when I was little
to have a look. I can also remember having it drummed into me to
leave them alone. Is it possible when you read out the rules to
make these sumps off limits.
For Your Information
We have received this notification from Silver Snitch and list it
for your info.
As you would know, people CAN NOT TAKE FRESH FRUIT or vegetables
into the Riverland as it is a fruit fly free area and this could
decimate the area. They are all doing it pretty tough there at
present, and I felt it was important to raise this but wanted
exactly the correct info so I rang Primary Industries. *You CAN
ONLY TAKE FRESH FRUIT and VEGETABLES into the Riverland if you have
bought them from a shop within South Australia and have an itemised
receipt i.e. 1kg apples, 550gms oranges etc plus name of shop
showing on the receipt. This is to show that they have been cleared
free of fruit fly. Absolutely not from your back yard and thus not
loose from your fridge for the same reason. This information can be
checked by phoning them or via their website. The supermarkets in
Waikerie: Big River Supermarket and Woolworths remain open through
out the long weekend. Their opening hours are from 7am until 8pm
across the entire Long Week End. There is also a grocer in Morgan.
