Geocache Description:

***First to find Honours Goes to Ten Point Nine***

The cache is placed on the Trans Pennine Trail (T P T). So the ground is flat, but uneven and muddy in places.

Parking:-
Traveling from Barnsley on the A635 Just past the post office is an access road to a small public parking area this is part of the old Doncaster Road before the dual road and roundabout was built, from there you can then walk to the footpath of the T P T which is on the left of the road going down to Grange Lane. Just past the Stairfoot Bridge electric sub station is the footpath; you could also park outside it on the old road. N53 32.758 W001 26.389. This will be only 230 feet from the cache; there will be no major roads to cross on foot.

You could also park at MacDonald’s if you fancy a snack. From there you can get straight on to the T P T at the back gate, and can be assessed by wheelchairs. Or at B & Q from there you will have to cross a few major roads, but there are pedestrian traffic lights to cross them.

If arriving by bus as some do. From Barnsley you should alight at Stairfoot Doncaster Road – Gordon Street bus stop. From Doncaster A635 or Wombwell A633 the best stop is at Stairfoot Doncaster Road - Hunningley Close bus stop. Then cross the A635 at the pedestrian traffic lights by the bus stop.

Stairfoot is a village in the metropolitan borough of Barnsley in .South Yorkshire It is perhaps so named because it lies in the valley bottom between the directly opposed undulations of two small hills on the old road from Barnsley to Doncaster.

Now for a few quotes about Stairfoot and its notorious roundabout taken from the web.

Stairfoot is now known widely throughout South Yorkshire for its roundabout. Controlled by traffic signals. It is notorious for its delays to the local traffic system.

Stairfoot roundabout is a nightmare in the mornings going into town and just as bad in the evening coming out. Since the arrival of B&Q it’s a nightmare.

Stairfoot roundabout, it’s just a total nightmare there just can’t be anywhere as bad as that.

The traffic lights outside Tesco in Stairfoot. Often end up queuing back under the bridge at Aldham Bridge. (About ¾ of a mile away) Once through the lights you then have to get round Stairfoot Roundabout, which worked so much better when the lights didn't work! BMBC don't have a clue about planning.

The cache is a small clip type food container fastened in place with Velcro tape, just pull the entire box off the Velcro. The box contains log book, pencil & sharpener, shopping trolley tokens, neck band, key ring, name tag, smiley fridge magnet and our logo an old UK Penny 1931.
It will take small TBs and Geo-coins.
