Geocache Description:

No, this cache shouldn’t take 3 hours to find. The name of the cache comes from the fact that it is hidden on a small island known locally as “Gilligan’s Island”.

Gilligan’s Island was an American TV sitcom which aired for three seasons on the CBS network from September 1964, to September 1967. It ran for 98 episodes, with the first season of 36 episodes being filmed in black-and-white (colorized later for syndication). The 62 episodes of the next 2 seasons were filmed in color. There were three TV movie sequels also filmed in color.

The show followed the comic adventures of seven castaways stranded by a shipwreck on a previously uninhabited island as they attempted to survive and ultimately escape. If you’ve ever watched an episode of this sitcom (and listened to the lyrics of the theme song), then you should understand the cache name. If you happen to still be scratching your head over the name of this cache, then a brief internet search should provide an answer. I won’t waste paper (for those cachers who aren’t premium members) by posting the entire lyrics of the theme song here.

The terrain rating is due to the fact that you need a boat to get to this cache on this small island. When the water level is very low, this island isn’t even an island anymore. During such times, it would be theoretically possible to walk to the cache without even getting your feet wet. Unfortunately, I am not aware of any hiking route that would get you to the cache without having to cross private property. So be sure to get the necessary permission(s) if you decide to try bushwhacking to it during low water.

The cache container is a large-sized camouflaged bison tube. Due to the small area of this island, and the obvious evidence that there are occasional visitors here, this cache is well hidden. So I’m making the usual request to please hide it back as well as, or better than, you found it.

I wouldn’t want anyone to put forth the effort to find this cache, only to end up without a smiley. Therefore, I am including 2 hints. The first hint is a significant help, but hopefully not a complete spoiler. The second hint is a complete spoiler, but it is written backwards to make it easier to look at the first hint without fear of accidentally reading the spoiler hint.
