Virtual cache, nice easy loop hike, appropriate for all.
Beautiful location in Canyon Park, the southern extension of the Talbert Nature Preserve. Park visitors will find a variety of hiking and interpretive trails, as well as several informal picnic areas and a playground at the south entrance, all situated within a salt marsh, fresh-water wetlands, grasslands, and woodlands.
One caveat: beware the Arachnid Guardians, watching over this treasure. A walking stick will come in handy for brushing back cobwebs.
After you find the Canyon cache, follow the trail out through the park's west-southwest entrance/exit, (as if you were walking to the river) and stay on the dirt road.
There you will see one of the coolest, and most "well-ridden" spots in Orange County. Some of the masters of the sport practice here, especially on the weekends. Bring a camera. You'll be glad you did.
