Trail Information:

The lighted 8 to 10 foot wide asphalt municipal walking, jogging, or biking trail runs about 2 & 7/10 miles across the City of Arkadelphia. Starting near the Baptist Medical Center, the trail follows Mill Creek to Feaster Park. After leaving the park, the trail crosses both Henderson State University's and Ouachita Baptist University's Campus's, ending up at a scenic overlook of the Ouachita River. Walkers and joggers can continue at the end of Feaster Trail on to the OBU cross country course to loop back to the 8th Street parking area.

During your trek you can pause at one of the many rest-stops along the way. A map of how to find the trail and the rest-stops is below.

For more information you can contact the Parks and Recreation department at (870) 246-5499, 700 Clay Street, Arkadelphia, AR 71923.

Trail History:

The City of Arkadelphia Parks and Recreation Department started the Feaster Trail System in 1980.
The first design was made to follow an existing utility right-of-way, through an area known as Feaster Park. Hence the name Feaster Trail. This first segment was built in 1981. It is one mile in length and connects Feaster Park to Henderson State University.

In 1984, Feaster Trail was designated as an Arkansas Trail and was put into the National Trail Recreation Register.
In 1985, Feaster Trail was expanded and additional 6/10 of a mile to a new hospital on the western portion of the city. This enabled connecting more green space.
In 1989, another 4/10 of a mile was added to Feaster Trail to link with Henderson State University's physical education and intramural area.

In 2001, the recently finished addition of 7/10 of a mile extends Feaster Trail to Ouachita Baptist University's cross country course, intramural fields, and athletic facilities. In addition, this area ends at an overlook of the Ouachita River. The trail is maintained for approximately 10' to 20' on either side.
