Geocache Description:

Easy cache find close to parking area at base of Moel Arthur

Moel Arthur is a prominent hilltop fort, with multiple steep banks and ditches encircling the hilltop. It is worth visiting just to take in the amazing views (on a clear day!) from the summit. The caches have been named in honour of my nephew Matty as he did his first hill walk here a couple of years ago. It was also a place where we used to come as a family for picnics, bilberry picking and playing hide & seek! However, I don’t think it’s much good for bilberries now.

This is the first in a collection of three caches placed at varying points on the hill, this one could almost be classed as a cache and dash! Boots advisable and there may be sheep around so please keep dogs under control. There is a free parking area at the base of the hill.

You could make the walk around Moel Arthur into a longer one by walking along the Offa’s Dyke Path to Coed Llangwyfan and doing the four caches placed there by The West Viewers (GC10PZ4, GC10PZ7, GC10PZ8, GC110W5) and the Dai Blaine cache (GCZM9N) placed by Team Marzipan (be warned – the walk back to Moel Arthur from Coed Llangwyfan includes a short steep climb!).

Congratulations to TeamMarzipan and PhilPamandRob for being joint FTF!
