Geocache Description:

Old pipeline groyne across the Australind Estuary.

This particular cache is an ideal break if you happen to be on a road trip from Perth to the beautiful south west. The old pipeline groyne used to carry the industrial waste from a nearby chemical plant accross the estuary for disposal (dumping) in the sandhills between the estuary and the beach. (Obviously from an earlier, less enlightened part of history?) Anyway, the pipe itself has been removed, and the remaining infastructure has been developed into an enviromental interpretative area for the estuary.

I mention that its a great spot to stop on a road trip because it has many features that may appeal to all the members of a geoFamily.
First... IT HAS A CACHE HIDDEN ON IT!...and a few other reasons as well...
1. Aproximately 2 hours from Perth....time for a stop!
2. Toilets....I said it was time for a stop!
3. A bit of (pent up energy burning) walking required. 1km each way, to ensure the geoKids make the rest of the trip down south without a geoParent harming any of them.
4. BBQ facilities (electric) if its that time of day.
5. Fresh water tap for the geoDoggy.

It is also possible to view the geoKiddies from the BBQ area all the way out to the cache location. This fact may be of some importance if perhaps you are stopping on your way home at the end of a geocahing trip...?

Either way, enjoy the walk, the view, and the fresh air! Its a great little part of the world.

PS: The cache although not hard to see, is fairly well hidden. Please place it back exactly as you find it.
