This cache is being placed in honor and recognition of the 85th Anniversary of our local Scout camp making Camp Brorein one of the oldest scout camps in the entire country.
Camp Brorein has hosted thousands upon thousands of scouts over the years and introduced many of them to the wonderful aspects of camping in the great outdoors. Currently there are 11 campsites on the 64 acres and many new upgrades are in development to make Camp Brorein one of the premier scout camps in the country. Inside the campgrounds is a Scout mueseum, Swed Hall (an 85 year old wood frame building that once served as a dining hall, now reserved as a meeting place), craft building, fishing dock, etc. Also on site is a dedication board known as "The Eagles Nest", honoring those individual boys who have achieved the ultimate in scouting, the Eagle badge. I just recieved approval to place this cache, however, the location in which it was to be placed was destroyed last night by an auto. This location is temporary until the old location is rebuilt.
The cache is 50 cal. ammo box loaded with goodies. Please note, half the items are scouting related, half are not. I'd like to use this cache as a way for scouts to trade and find scouting items so please, if you take a scouting item, leave a scouting item. If you don't have a scout item, please swap for something non-related. This cache will most likely be used to introduce our Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts to geocaching. The cache is located near the road so there is no need to enter the campgrounds. Please recover cache so this cannot be seen clearly from the road and please be respectful as this is private property.
