WWFM III
(third worldwide, but the Lakes Region's first.)

May 10th. 1:00-1:15 p.m.

Mark your calendars.
This is fifteen minutes you won't want to miss.

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION

This event is a "Flash Mob" gathering of geocachers, only 15 minutes long! To claim the event, you must be present and sign a log sheet during this time. (Hence the difficulty level of 2.)

"WWFM" stands for the World Wide Flash Mob event: Dozens of events all around the world, coordinated to happen at the same time to bring together geocachers and introduce newbies to geocaching.

EVENT ITINERARY

My sincere thanks go out to 121 Tech Team, TigQuilt, mscrep, Bass_Chaz, and jynxybabe for volunteering to help. Anyone know a couple of muggles who'd like to videotape and photograph the event?

12:30-1:00: When you arrive in the area, make every effort to act like a muggle, and try not to acknowledge the presence of other cachers you see. For it to feel like a FlashMob, we need to group up at one moment, and disperse at another.

UPDATE, 5/08: Thanks to the proactive and amazingly resourceful 121 Tech Team, we now have the blessing of the folks at Church Landing to use their gazebo.

Please have no qualms about descending upon it (in as orderly a fashion as we can manage) at the appointed hour.
And don't forget to be inconspicuous beforehand! Almighty Cleanse

Hesky Park

1:00: Pictured above is WayPoint #1 (before last week's ice out). At exactly 1pm (by your GPS clock) make your way to the gazebo, where you will receive your official log sheet/raffle ticket. Don't dally here, though—waypoint #3 is a five minute walk away!

Plus ça change

1:03-1:08: The photo above this paragraph is of Waypoint #2, which may look familiar to many. Make your way to the bucket of swag nearby, make trades, hand in your log sheets, and move on. (You probably won't have time to write down trackable discovery numbers here. I suggest you save that for waypoint #4.)

Hesky Park

1:10 pm: Above is WayPoint #3. At exactly 1:10pm, gather on the platform (or nearby, if it proves impossible) for the raffle drawing, event meal, and group photo.

1:15 pm: Disperse! Scram! Skedaddle! Go away! The official WorldWide FlashMob is now over. If you didn't hand in a log sheet, you weren't there.

After 1:15: You are cordially invited to waypoint #4 (to be announced at the event), where we can debrief and mingle. You will also receive some brand new listings of caches in the area.

So come join us and be a part of a moment in geocaching history!

In your "will attend" log, please post the projected number in your group.

For those who haven't cached the Lakes Region, you're in for a treat before and after the event. For those who have, there will be new hides for you to seek out. Rain or shine, it's a beautiful place to cache!
