FMB1 - Head for the Hills Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Huge Mess: Now that the locations of FMB3 and FMB4 are no longer suitable for caches, there doesn't seem to be much point in keeping this one. Thus this cache will be archived, never to return. In any case I'd have had to get rid of the whole series in time for the Mega Event as there's no way I want to be responsible for the environmental damage caused by a footfall of potentially over 500 people in a weekend. I'll move the travel bug on and place any swaps that aren't soiled into other caches. Thanks to all who have visited and left excellent logs.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

A 1 litre box with a clip-on lid, the first in a series of four woodland geocaches which can be done in a circular walk of about 2 miles from the suggested parking.

Park at N51º21.565 W002º57.657 and put on your Wellingtons or stout boots. The cache is not far from a path but the paths round here are made up of slippery stones, slippery roots, slippery mud or all three. Trousers and long sleeves are advisable as there are plenty of brambles on the way. Although the co-ords were averaged over four visits to the cache site, tree cover may make things difficult. The additional hint should help.

When you find the cache remember to look for the Northing for FMB4 – Final Whistle. It is written on the underside of the lid and also inside the log book. You will also need to visit FMB2 and FMB3 to learn where FMB4 is hidden. Please be stealthy and re-hide the cache carefully.

12/10/2008 update: The area seems to change all the time. To help those who are struggling with GPS reception: Close to the cache site there is now a fallen tree whose trunk has split above head height.
