When caching in the Carolinas you are in the grand company of other outdoor sports. To name just a few: fishing, hunting, skiing, biking, bird watching, canoeing, climbing, hiking, camping, running, rafting - and all the variations thereof. Just to make it clear, when we speak of outdoor sports, we are not including the popular commercial and spectator sports such as football and golf. An outdoor sport in this definition is a sport in which you must be active. And further, it is a sport that tends to be individual and non-competitive, except to best one’s previous marks.
Geocaching is the newest and arguably the fasted growing of the outdoor sports. So, where do you go to learn more about some sport that you have heard about or may have experienced with a friend? There are the sporting goods stores, the library, sports magazines (there is surely one, and in most cases several, for each sport), and the internet. It is this latter medium that you received most of your information about geocaching. And there are various television and radio shows. There is a local show on Charlotte's 50,000 Watt three letter premier radio station to which you can tune into early (Is 5:00 too early) any Saturday morning. There you are liable to hear references to, or a discussion of, geocaching among all the other sports discussed. Indeed, gypc, the FTF for this cache was interviewed March 1st, 2008. How is that for a FTF prize? The hosts of the show, Bill and/or Don might be lurking near the first stage and would like to meet you.
------------------------------------
The first stage of the cache is near the listed coordinates. It contains the coordinates of the final cache. This may appear to be a simple stage but, if after looking awhile you still cannot locate the container, step way back in the parking lot and take a gander at where you were searching. In fact there were also signs near where you were searching. The container appears to contain a log, but it does not. Please do not open the ZipLoc bag.
------------------------------------
The final cache is an ammo can with a few outdoor sport related items contained therein. To maintain the theme of Outdoor Sports please place in the container only items that pertain to outdoor sports. Parking is listed below. The trailhead is on the other side of the road down toward the dam.
