Geocache Description:

An easy grab n' go in a rural location.

This cache is located near an intersection of three roads which mark the center of what was once the town of Huron. The settlement, named after the Huron Indian Tribe, was originally established on property owned by Colonel D. R. Anothy of Leavenworth. Although the town grew into an important trading center, the main railroad line was laid a few miles to the east in the late 1800s. In response, Huron was moved to its current site (along present-day Highway 73) in 1882. Some families remained behind, however, and a few still inhabit this area which they affectionately call "Old Huron".
