Knagur Green: Due to no response from the CO after the request to maintain or replace the cache, I am archiving it to, stop it showing on the listings and/or to create place for the geocaching community.

The Geocache Maintenance guideline explains a CO's responsibility towards checking and maintaining the cache when problems are reported.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival. This is explained in the Help Center

Geocache Description:

The old Centurion Park cricket stadium (now known as SuperSport Park and allegedly named after the “centurions” of the game – those that scored a century or 100 runs) holds the honour that it is the only sports ground in the world which gave its name to a municipality: Centurion.

There was a broad consensus among the people of Verwoerdburg that the name had to be changed. Most were astute enough to realise that in the post-1994 era, having an entire town named after the architect of apartheid was little more than an embarrassment.

A shortlist of names was drawn up, and after that, the residents were actually able to vote for their favourites. Rather predictably, they settled on “Centurion”. Having chosen the name for themselves, the residents accepted it willingly and “Verwoerdburg” was almost instantaneously dropped from the public lexicon.

The cache is a standard micro accessible outside the stadium - stealthwise it will be very difficult to retrieve if there is a game on.
