This site marks the location where Joseph Pollarad uncovered the first gold in the Ararat District in 1854.
There are several information boards here as well as covered mineshafts and a picnic table. In nearby Cathcart there are public toilets available at the rest area.
The cache is a larger camoflaged clasp lock jar. It is hidden outside the compound and contains the usual swaps. For the FTF there is a small monocular, but alas no certificate as this cache was placed on the spur of the moment.
