My daughter wanted an ammo box for her birthday so that she could
put out a geocache. After quite a bit of discussion she
decided to put it out in Callaway to show the beautiful flowers and
plants that we see every time we come here. The trail
you’ll follow to the cache is about ½ mile and will take you
through a part of Callaway that we think quite a few people seem to
miss.
·
Park near the posted coordinates.
·
Find the monument dedicated to Fred Charles Galle. He was
quite the gardener, teacher and author. This garden is
dedicated to him.
·
Walk North past the deck and take your first left.
·
Continue down this path and take the first right.
·
At the T intersection, take another right.
·
Continue on this eastward path past the bench. You can have a
seat here to smell the flowers and enjoy the view.
·
At the next big stump take a left, turn right at the next stump and
then follow the path along the lake.
·
This path will soon come to a fork with a rope railing.
·
Follow the railing until you come to a crooked bridge.
·
Take the northern path after the bridge.
·
This path will lead to a second small bridge, cross it and you will
find a fountain
·
From the fountain the cache is almost directly north approximately
40 feet away
The cache is a small ammo can with many trade
items.
