Geocache Description:

The fourth RR cache in the Monopoly series. Today nobody has a transportation monopoly like the powerful railroads of the past. IMPORTANT: The railroad tracks below are active. It is illegal to walk on the railroad tracks. The cache is a safe distance away, in the woods of Silas Condict Park.

The cache site overlooks the Pequannock River and tracks that are now owned by New York Susqehanna & Western Railroad, which provides freight service from the Port Newark area to Syracuse and Utica, NY. Hovever, it will not be possible to see the river or tracks from the cache site when leaves are on the trees. This line was originally part of New Jersey Midland Railroad, which dates to the mid-nineteenth century. The cache is at the base of a very large flat-top boulder. Park in the north parking lot of the park, shown on the park map. One way to reach the cache is to follow the trail that goes north-northeast from the parking lot until you approach the park boundary marker at 41 00.54N, 074 23.00W and turn north, off the trail, from there. Small container, with room only for a few small trade items, Geocoins, and small TBs. To be on the safe side, bring your own pen. In season, watch for the typical hazards: poison ivy, ticks, etc. The other caches in this series are Reading RR and Short Line RR, and B&O RR of course! GPS signals bounce a bit in this area. Please e-mail me if your coordinates differ from mine. Thank you. Congratulations to IMSpider for FTF. And congratulations to Archerino for being the first to find all four Monopoly RR caches. Honorable mention to CHT2009, bk1086, and TheGulchTrackers, who have also logged all four.
