Milan Rastislav Štefánik sa narodil v
Košariskách v rodine evanjelického
farára. Bol slovenský astronóm, politik,
generál francúzskej armády. Mal zásluhy
na samostatnost Slovenka v rámci 1.ceskoslovenskej
republiky. V rokoch 1914-1918 organizoval cesko-slovenské
légie v Srbsku, Rumunsku, Rusku, Taliansku a v roku 1918
protisovietsku intervenciu na Sibíri. Bol clenom
Národnej rady v Paríži, zaslúžil sa
o vznik 1.ceskoslovenskej republiky v roku 1918 a bol prvým
cesko-slovenským ministrom národnej obrany. Zahynul
pri leteckej katastrofe pri návrate na Slovensko. Kto
nepozná Štefánika nepozná
históriu Slovenska. Dúfame však, že
takých je málo. Snád i táto
skrýša resp. listing dopomôže k
získaniu vedomostí o tomto velkom rodákovi
trochu neštardantným spôsobom a to bohatou
pôvodnou
fotogalériou.

Milan Rastislav Štefánik (1880-1919)
was born in the evangelic parish house in Kosariská, a small
village with a population of about 400, in Slovakia. In Kosariská he attended the folk
school and after that he was accepted to the evangelical lycee in
Bratislava. Stefanik chosed to study, at first architectural
engineering , then mathematics and astronomy, but finally
Štefánik applied
to the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague where in
1904 he graduated with a doctorate from philosophy. From his
childhood he liked astronomy, physics and mathematics and therefore
left Austria-Hungary, as hundreds of Slovak intellectuals, and
travelled abroad. He chose Paris with its science, culture and art
and desired to act there as an astronomer. He was an astronomer and
art-connoisseur. During and after the world war he became a
general, politician and diplomat and was one of the founders of
Czechoslovakia. He died in an airplane crash in 1919 near
Ivanka pri Dunaji during his arrival to home,
Slovakia.
