Die "Alte Batterie" ist eine Feldverschanzung. Sie wurde im Oktober 1794 von den französischen Revolutionstruppen angelegt und mit Kanonen bestückt.
Von hier und anderen Geschützbatterien entlang des Rheins wurde Düsseldorf über ein Jahr lang beschossen.
Zuletzt, kurz vor dem Sturm wurde es in Brand geschossen. Dies war im August und September 1795. Schließlich setzte die französische Armee über den Rhein und besetzte Düsseldorf.
Die "Alte Batterie" bestand bis 1814. Danach räumten die Franzosen das Rheinland.

The “old person battery” is a field entrenchment. It was put on in October 1794 by the French revolution troops and equipped with cannons.
From here and other cannon batteries along the Rhine Duesseldorf was long fired at over one year.
Last, short before the storm it was shot in fire. This was in August and September 1795. Finally the French army set over the Rhine and occupied Duesseldorf.
The “old person battery” existed until 1814. Afterwards the Frenchmen vacated the Rhine country.
