I decided that this beautiful area needed some more caches. We looked up on the right side of the road and saw some fantastic rock cliffs. One of those cliffs looks like a hoot owl from the road. Now you know where the name came from. Naming the cache was one thing, getting to a spot for the hide was quite a different matter.
There are two ways to get to the cache. One is very hard and the other is extremely hard. The long way or the short way (a matter of less than 100 feet), take your pick. If you look close enough there is a trail that goes up the hill and after reaching the top, you must bushwhack along the edge to the cache. The bushes and thorns are thick but this is the "easy" way. If you are a mountain goat, take the short route but be very careful. A walking stick is mandatory for seeking this cache.
After reaching and finding the cache take some time to enjoy the view. You will be looking down on the Mill Creek which creates the beautiful Blue Hole. Any time of the year this spot is ideal for photos.
Parking is fairly easy. I have included the coordinates for the closest area. You will be looking for a small 4 by 4 by 2 inch lock-n-lock. Thanks and have a good caching day.
Be sure to find the other 5 caches in the immediate area and a couple up on top. One is a combo Earthcache/regular cache.
