Geocache Description:

It turns out that very little information is available about this lookout. Interestingly, Ray Kresek's book Fire Lookouts of the Northwest makes no mention of it. But Rex's Forest Fire Lookout Page (www.firelookout.com) does list it, however brief.

Scar Hill's lookout's tower was built sometime in the 1930s on this land that is currently owned by Weyerhauser. It was abandoned in the 1940s. No photos currently exist. Even though it might easily be considered a lowland lookout site, it still has a nice view. Today, it has been taken over by radio towers, as is the case with many other lookout sites. If you look carefully, you can find what may well be remnants of what used to be here.

About this cache:
  • This cache is on publicly accessible logging company land. Access is granted to the public only during weekends and only during daylight hours.
  • There are good dirt roads all the way to the lookout site.
  • You are searching for a regular sized Lock 'n' Lock.
  • There is a worthwhile FTF prize.
