A piece of History located in Birch Bay, WA. You will be looking for a micro.
I set out to find a hard to find cache today in Birch Bay. After I found it and was on my way home, this park caught my eye as I was passing by. Being equipped for emergencies, I found a suitable location and placed this cache. This cache is located within the Bay Horizon Park, which was formerly the Blaine Air Force Radar and Communication Station of North American Air Defense Command (1951 - 1979).
I remember this place as a child, because my uncle cut hair here for the men and women stationed here. I also remember while growing up and traveling around the Birch Bay area, if your radio was on, it would go scratchy every so often because of the huge radar antenna that would rotate around. The site is now used for Camp Horizon in June and July. The park area is open to the public from dawn to dusk. I found the park very interesting to visit and could only imagine what it was like in the early 50's when it opened.
1/28/2011 - Cache was relocated and the cords have been updated after the old one walked away. The cache has been placed close to the new playground and should be easy to find unless there are lots of people around.
