The Nan Madol ruins are located on the southeast coast of Madolenihmw municipality on Pohnpei Island in the Federated States of Micronesia. This ancient city was built by two brothers, Ohlosohpa and Ohlosihpa. Many legends tell of how this city was built using a magical rock. It is truly one of the wonders of the Pacific.
The path to the cache is relatively easy as it is a well-maintained trail that takes about 10-15 minutes with a shallow river crossing right before arriving at the cache site. Shoes are recommended because of the coral path. I rated this one high for terrain due to the cost associated with visiting the ruins and the river crossing which could be over your waist during high tide. Also, the length of travel it takes to get to Pohnpei was another consideration for the high rating. The only way in and out of Pohnpei is on United Airlines' island-hopper flight.
The cache is a green plastic tube about the size of a pill bottle. Additional waypoints are provided as directions on how to get to the cache. Good hunting!
