In the 19th Century, a battle took place between two tribes near this site. Monuments have been put up in recognition of this battle.
The coordinates listed will take you to the traditional Nebraska Historical Marker at the site. A small parking lot is there for you to park in as you complete this cache. At the coordinates, you will be looking for a bison tube (about 1" x 3"). Find and open it to receive your first clue. Answer the clue using the information on the marker to get the coordinates for the next stage of the cache.
Each stage will have a question for you to solve using the information at the site. Follow along through each stage to learn about this history of Massacre Canyon as you search for the final cache. Each stage will come with instructions, questions, and also tell you what kind of container you are looking for in the next stage. All of the stages are contained within this site, so if you suddenly find a need to get in your car to drive to the next stage, then you solved a question incorrectly.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, stop by this site between 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to stop in the Visitor Center. You can purchase some interesting souvenirs or pick up some information packets about the surrounding area. The people at this shop have been made aware of the cache, but will not be able to help you find it. A bathroom is just down the bath, separate from the visitor center.

Try to place all of the stages back exactly as you found them. Thanks to the higher winds in this area, some stages have been filled with makeshift weights as a safety measure. Please put them back in.
UPDATE: I originally placed this while living in McCook. Now that I live much farther away, this is harder to maintain. If someone in the area would like to help with maintenance, please contact me. That way, if something goes wrong, a more timely repair can be made. Thank you.
UPDATE: Stage 3 has given me problems in the past and it seems to be that way again. It is the one stage that seems to struggle with staying in place. So here's what we will do. When you figure out the correct answer to the question in stage 2, subtract .034 from the North coordinates and add .057 to the West coordinates of that answer's set of coords. We'll just knock this down from a 5 stage to a 4 stage cache. Sorry to everyone who struggled with it. If I make it back out to the area, I'll try to fix it.
