Mungalli Falls is located approximately 13km from Millaa Millaa along the Palmerston Highway. Follow the Junction road to the Falls Tea House. This waterfall is the highest waterfall on the Tablelands, and is approximately 90 metres high. A glow-worm population at the base of the falls is one of Mungalli's best kept secrets. The walk to and from the lower lookout takes about 30 minutes to an hour (depending on your fitness level).
Some stealth may be required while locating the cache, as the Mungalli Creek area is often used for wedding receptions, conferences and school eco-trips.
FIRST TO FIND goes to Danielc, who wrote: "Hi all,
Though the morning broke dark and threatening, Danielc's mob (probably suffering cabin fever due to the recent rains) set off to the notoriously wet Southern Tablelands to tackle two caches - this being the second one. It was morning tea time when we reached the Mungalli Falls so first stop was the restaurant for a Devonshire tea/coffee. Highly recommended! Then, while Val sat and sipped coffee, was lulled by the gurgle of the water flowing past, and read her book,(Highly recommended to those who are cursed with a fanatical geocaching partner, and who personally thinks it's a bit dotty), Danielc and Danielv set off for the search. What a lovely walk down to the cache site. Last time I was there it was slippery dirt - now it is sealed. Even found some wild raspberries to eat on the way down. When we got there, Danielc took the clue a bit too literally and started looking into crow's nest ferns. Danielv spotted it. Signed the log, swapped a lifeline key ring for a bouncy ball. (I even remembered to bring a swap - it was a good day for me. Might have been that coffee).
By-the-way a couple of kilometres back up the road is the Mungalli Cheese Factory. I can personally recommend their scones with Rainforest Jam and fresh cream.
Cheers, and Good Hunting! Dan."
Have fun and happy geocaching.
