This
is my first cache and it is dedicated to Annie and Ernie
Salmon.

Views
from along part of the trail.
50
years ago Cecil & Diane Salmon purchased Tesky Farm, one of the
first homesteads on Promontory Hill. They have deeded the most
eastern & western parts of their property to the District of
Chilliwack as parkland, in order to preserve the trails (both old
& recent) along with a hint of what Promontory Hill used to be.
The park is to be dedicated in the near future to the memory of
Cecil’s parents, Annie and Ernie Salmon.
The main trail eventually leads down to Chilliwack
Lake Road. It was part of the “old road” to the river
and Vedder Crossing. If you have reason to follow the length of the
trail, you might want to think about what it would have been like
years ago (on foot or on horseback) travelling down the path in the
dark, with a lantern or by the light of the
moon!!!
The posted parking coordinates are the closest
public access to both stage one and the final. A short cut will not
help you, the stairs are inevitable!!
The mountain and river views are spectacular from
the 1st stage. Be sure to bring a camera!! Once you have
recorded the coordinates for the final cache, please replace the
container exactly as you found it.
The
final cache is very close to the well-used main trail. You will
need to exercise caution while retrieving and re-hiding the
cache!!
The
cache is an 800 ml. cammo lock ‘n lock containing a whimsical
assortment of small trade items, a log book and pen, FTF and a
geocaching information card. There is room for small TBs and
coins.
The
FTF is a cedar bark rose crafted by Grace Kelly. It acknowledges
the Salmon family’s First Nation heritage, their love for the
area and their gift to the community of much needed treed
parkland.
