This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. Please check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines for more info.

I've added this cache to my watchlist and ill check back to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intention, please post a note here on the cache page (not email) to let the community know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If 30 days pass without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Geocache Description:

Your journey will begin on the Bernon Heights Nature and Fitness trail. Follow the paths, but you will need to bushwhack the last 10 feet.

I attended this school from 1975 untill 1982. Kindergarten through sixth grade. I loved playing in the yard during recess, maybe a little too much as I used to get in trouble for venturing a little too far into the woods...

These woods hold many wonderful childhood memories for me. You will visit a spot named FFFF by me. If you ever get to talk to me I'll tell you what that means. My dad and I discovered the spot you will visit on a nice sunny summer day. We gathered rocks and any wood we could get our hands on to fortify the position. In later years, I would spend days at a time there with a few friends from the neighborhood. We would play and wait for an attack on our fort from the older kids, but we never did see any real combat there.

We were armed with our trusty slingshots and our Crossman BB guns and were prepared to fight to the death to defend our ground.

We lived on blueberries and whatever we could steal from home and our wineskins filled with water to keep us going...

I hope you enjoy your visit to a place that has been a big part of my growing up. I really enjoyed going back and placing this cache for you, the memories came back like you would not believe. I was telling my daughter all my stories as we were walking through these woods touring the various locations you will visit.

The cache is now a small lock-n-lock container with some trading items to start it off.

FTF prize includes a certificate that will forever remind you of your accomplishment, and a silver dollar from my days at the school.

I hope you enjoy my cache as much as I enjoyed placing it. It brought back a lot of good memories.

Please let me know what you think and take pictures!!!

Ahh, The Good Old Days!!

Congrats to Halogrammy, Grandfatherof2, Mr. Matthew and Angel_Girl for FTF!
