Geocache Description:

About a 3.5 mile round trip hike from the parking area, but the terrain isn't too difficult.
You are looking for a .30 caliber ammo can.

My father calls this location the "Tommy Hauls Tunnel". Located on the North side of short mountain, this was the location of a horizontal coal mine that bores straight into the side of the mountain. I searched the internet for information about this tunnel but came up empty. The tunnel has long since been closed and the opening sealed. However, the entrance is still quite obvious and there is no danger in approaching it. My father says this tunnel was in existence long before his time, built probably in the early 1900's.

This cache is on State Game Lands. For your own safety wear the proper amount of fluorescent orange during any hunting season (even if it's not required). Check the PA Game Commission web site for fluorescent orange requirements and hunting season dates.
