Should be an easy find, lots of muggle houses about so be carefull
Wennington the last small village in Lancashire, before you enter the Yorkshire Dales
(Wennington – The Town on the Wenning)
The Wennington Way series caches can all be done in one day, the route takes you round the village to various historical and interesting points
If you are doing the whole route, or would just like to do the, “The Wennington Way – The Pound” and “The Wennington Way - The Waste” it is best to park in the railway station car park, take a right over the river Wenning as you come out of the station entrance
The animal pound is very old and if you travel through Wennington you would probably not know of its existence. It is still intact and in excellent condition even down to the original gate and the railings close by
It was used for keeping stray sheep and cattle that had wandered into the village, then anyone who had lost a sheep would come and have a look to see if their sheep had been found and put in the enclose, it then cost them a certain amount of money to retrieve them
Opposite the pound is a very large building which used to be the Station Hotel and then the Fosters Arms, the hotel was part of the Hornby castle estate and was sold on 1st December 1938 for £1900.00 it then became a coffee bar and private residence, it has now been converted to residential properties
The cache is located near the Animal Pound. Please note it is not inside the pound
It should be very easy to find
After finding the cache you might like to wander further through the village to the other caches
