Geocache Description:

Nice easy cache 'n dash at the gates to the Kirk of Calder in Mid Calder. Wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Parking available on street, however take care with the road.

The main war memorial in Mid Calder consists of a large stone arched gateway with battlemented turrets. On left a saltire in shield, centre a cross surrounded with a wreath and on right a lion rampant in a shield. The two inscribed metal plaques name those souls lost in the two world wars, 52 in the Great War and 25 in WW2.

I decided to expand the "Lest We Forget" series into West Lothian, since a few other geocachers have been adding them to other areas. It's not until you research into these memorials that you appreciate how many lives were sacrificed to allow our generation to live the way we do.

Even though most of my new caches fall into the cache 'n dash category, I hope you will stand silently for a moment and appreciate what all these names stand for.
