Geocache Description:

The cache IS at the above coordinates!

As many of the recent caches I have done have been puzzle caches ,I thought I would set a nice straightforward find.

During January/Feb 2008 I picked up two seperate Travel Bugs related to Robin Hood, which set me thinking about placing a Robin Hood related cache.

In the traditional Robin Hood tale,Robin knows he is dying and goes to see his sister, who is a nun at Kirklees Priory. On his deathbed,he fires an arrow out of the window and asks to be buried where the arrow lands .His grave is marked on OS maps behind the Three Nuns pub,but is on PRIVATE land. This cache is placed as near as you can legally go near to the cache. There is no need to climb any walls or fences(stiles are provided) to get to the cache.

After the dissolution of the monasteries in 1539,three nuns from the priory diversified and continued to run one of the priory buildings on the site of the present pub as a hostelry for travellers, hence the pub name.

Robin Hode TB The Merry adventures of Robin Hood

Wedding Bouquet Geocoin
The Three Nuns played a significant role in the budding romance of Fred the Red and Mrs Fred,so this seems an appropriate place for the launch of this coin.
