This is the Lebanon Public Library. The original Carnegie library was built in 1905. In 1991 they built an expansion that increased the space fourfold. Then in 2005, after much controversy, they acquired the building and ground on the rest of the block. Demolition, dust , dirt and mud eventually led to the completion of the new library expansion. While renovating the older parts of the building they uncovered and have preserved some of the original flooring and walls. The library houses the Heritage Center in part of the original building. This is the best place to start when you are researching anything "Boone County" and for a start on research of many of the surrounding counties. They have excellent children's programs and a staff that are both helpful and very knowledgeable. It is a great place to read a book.
