A pair of old gateposts with a terrific view
It's called "Gate with a view" - Sadly the gate's long gone but the posts are still here.
The views from here over the west of Lancashire are tremendous - and you don't even need a particularly clear day to see it.
I set this cache during heavy rain on an overcast day.
To the left far horizon you can see the hills of Wales, in the same direction but closer are Harrock hill, then Healey Nab.
To the half left on the horizon is Southport.
Ahead is the Ribble estuary and Blackpool tower (I'm told you can also see "The Big One - but I've never seen it from here)
To the half right is Preston, and to the right Longridge fell and behind that; in the distance the fells of Bowland. Bring some binoculars with you - although all the above can be seen without them.
Some parking may be available at N53 40.843' W002 33.488'
but I prefer to walk here from White coppice via the Goit and Withnell plantation.
You search for this cache at your own risk- the countryside can be dangerous. Assess the risk for yourself. If in doubt; don't.
