Years ago the Police would water their horses in this park with water from the well.
Once Clare was the most northern police station in South Australia. In 1855 they dug a well across from the police station from which they would water their horses.
The police station is now a museum.
It is open on Weekends, public holidays and school holidays - 10am-12noon and 2-4pm. Admission: $2 Adults, $1.50 Pensioners and only 50cents for children.
If you come looking for the cache in these hours make sure you check out the museum too and learn more about the history of Clare!
As you near Ground Zero you may notice the black stumps that remain after a bushfire that burnt through the area on Ash Wednesday 1983. The fire destroyed many homes and properties. The fire came very close to the residential area of Clare before moving across the hills towards Mintaro.
