Geocache Description:

Lock 33

This cache was placed by canalgirl and chubba327. I was lucky enough to be able to adopt this one and I plan on keeping it active. This is a great spot to visit or have a picnic lunch.

Seen one lock, you've seen them all but Old Lock 33 is special because it was the only lock in the eastern division that was expanded to the west (rather than the east) during the 1880's expansion.Wow! Do I really need this trivia taking up space in my brain? There is a lock tender house nearby, you should actually pass it, and the remains of a culvert. Like so many other locks, it was used as a dumping area from 1916 up until recently. It was cleaned out around 1999 or 2000.

Be careful driving this road in the winter, Chubba and canalgirl had a fun time placing the cache. You will need to take the road and do not attempt this via the bike trail (you'll end up having to cross water). You could probably access this site by canoe or kayak, as well. Container is a square lock N lock. Bring your fishing pole or a picnic. The new interpretative signs are beautiful. Love the Tortillo painting!

I noticed that there can be a lot of muggles around so you may need to practice your stealth skills when going after the cache.

Congratulations muddy-sneakers For The FTF!
