Geocache Description:

This location is on a private farm in far east-central IL. The farm is located on a glacial moraine at the highest point in Iroquois County (812 ft asl). You will drive to within 100ft of the cache.

There is a one lane gravel/dirt road leading to the top of the moraine. This road can be soft, especially the shoulder, during the spring months. At the hill crest park in a short gravel driveway to the west. Exercise caution when entering the driveway as the hill can obstruct your view of oncoming traffic (not that many vehicles go down this road). Please be especially cognizant of your surroundings during the farming season - this road will see traffic and large machinery most often during these times.

This cache is a clear plastic jar containing a logbook, some stickers, pencils, a hemp bracelet, bouncy ball, Mardi Gras beads, and other assorted trinkets. The cache may contain glacial erratics for added weight, please do not remove any large rocks.

Please pay special attention to the following rules as this is a privately owned farm: park only on the gravel lane - the grassy area is rough and could be muddy, do not play in the shed or on farm equipment, approach the cache from the east.

This cache rests on the original site of my great-great-great Grandfather's homestead. He was once the largest landowner in Iroquois County, but most of his assets have dissipated through the generations. A house no longer stands here, but his legacy is present in a lasting remnant: the well pit. In the small area of weedy overgrowth you will find a well pit ~5 ft deep full of beer cans. This area also obscures assorted pieces of derelict farm equipment. Please do not play in the area of tall grass.

I apologize for the number of rules, but I want to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable caching experience and respects our property. This area is especially relaxing during the spring and summer months when you can smell Mother Nature awakening and feel the warm prairie breezes. Don't be afraid to bring along a cooler - there is a large grassy area perfect for picnicking.
