This cache is located right where the old Laguna Junction Cafe used to be before they built the I-8 interchange for Sunrise Hiway in 1970. The original slab is still there, so you can park next to it and visualize what it must have been like! You can see the original roadbed from Old Hwy. 80 going down to Pine Valley.
This is where the Greyhound Bus dropped Splashman off on his first visit to CA. He was stationed at Mt. Laguna AFB and waiting for a ride up the hill to the base. He thought he was in the middle of nowhere, and back then, he was!
Today, we could drive right up to what was the front porch on the cafe. If the gate is closed, it's just a short walk over to GZ.
You are looking for an ammo can just a short distance from parking. There is a trail right to the cache behind the Pine tree w/minimal bushwacking.
